  • Julian PR-14. Original Ulysses S. Grant presidential medals were struck in two diameters -- 76 millimeter and the present 45 millimeter example. These also appear to be rarer than their larger counterparts and offer patina that utterly imitates dark milk chocolate. An extremely faint sliding abrasion aims down the obverse right field and two sharp, small marks land on Grant's forehead, and one small verdigris spot can be found on the lower reverse.

  • Lot #379 - 1907 NGC MS-67
  • Hammer: $1,800
  • Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
  • While common even at MS-67, a crisply struck and dazzling quarter-eagle will always be a treat for the eyes when competently graded, as is the case here. Sparkling luster dance around the results of a high-definition strike to great advantage. Varieties have not been well studied for the series but the cataloger notes some "stuff" within zero of the date that could be of interest.
