  • Lot #77 - Mexico - 1840/39-DO RM/L 8 reales - NGC AU-58
  • Hammer: $700
  • World Coins-Mexico
  • KM#377.4, Durango mint. While not particularly rare, the overmintmark and corrected assayer conspire to create a very popular entry into the 8-reales series, this also being an outstanding example. Highest grade previously seen by the cataloger was AU-55, although the population report shows about a handful of other AU-58 - MS-62 examples. This one appears fully original and sports very strong die clashes, as well as an identifiable silvery streak down left of center on the obverse.

  • Lot #494 - 1855 PCGS AU-55
  • Hammer: $3,100
  • Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
  • 44 graded AU-55, 90 higher at PCGS. Around the middle of the pack in terms of rarity for type-1 double-eagles, the 1855 is reasonably approachable even at the choice grade level. Decent cartwheel effect remains evident on the obverse while the reverse displays even more energy. Enriched with deeper golden hue.
