While all five dates within this run of Indian quarter-eagles may be considered “generic”, there is absolutely nothing “generic” about these five exquisite examples of this heavily sought after type! Each of these are NGC certified as MS-64 and includes a 1925-D, a 1926, a 1927, a 1928, and a 1929. Every example offers ample orange burst luster and incredibly clean fields that makes them more than deserving of their nearly Gem grade. Even the most critical collector would have a tough time finding fault with this grouping (ck).

Lot #417 - 1883 PCGS MS-64

23 graded MS-64, 8 higher at PCGS. A very low mintage of 900 pieces explains why so many 1883s are prooflike, although the present example displays mostly typical luster with hints of flashy texture throughout the fields. Strangely, about half of examples seen tend to be mint-state, although few approach gem status. A sharp strike points to minimally used dies, such that even the lower curls of the hair are rather distinctly separated. Stray marks favor the right field just slightly even while overall, this coin managed to evade most of the bagmarks that often plague other issues within the series.
