Plainly in the wheelhouse of the common working-man collector is this trio of approachable mint-state quarter-eagles. Included are: 1908 (subdued yellow-gold with a slightly deficient strike), 1909 (extremely deep orange hue with odd gunmetal accents), and 1912 (friction on the highpoints against a bit of two-toned patina). The surface does not seem that much more hairlined than straight-graded examples, but closer inspection reveals slightly glossy texture throughout that leads to the "cleaned" disclaimer. Smoothly and evenly worn to the extent that only trivial luster remains in the reverse periphery.
