A superior obverse mates to a reverse that appears to be slightly muted by unexpectedly dominant patina. This latter side also shows more abrasions than the better preserved obverse.

Lot #333 - 1852-D Rotated Dies PCGS AU-55

Misaligned dies are common to the 1852-D, this one struck practically in medallic alignment. Overall, this also appears to be a decently struck example, albeit the dies came together on the usual substandard planchet that seems to have plagued Dahlonega. Lemon-gold hue and clashing and die-cracks meet expectations for this issue.
