Half Dollars-Liberty Seated
WB-103. PCGS did not recognize the "bisected date" which might have quickly led to realization that this half-dollar was struck under authority of the Confederacy after the New Orleans mint was seized at the beginning of the Civil War. On the obverse, some contrast results from mostly champagne-bronze hue toward the right while a minority area toward the left displays glittering silvery effects. The cheek appears clean at first glance, but further inspection reveals a slender hairline abrasion.
