More than a hint of coppery toning flashes across the obverse while the reverse seems almost perfectly pristine. An incredible proof type coin that has virtually no peers.

38 graded MS-66, 6 higher at NGC. Both sides have been handsomely well taken care of for this very gem cent, struck on the doorstep of the Civil War. Impeccable color takes on flashing yellowish accents under some lighting angles and a good loupe reveals a stone-cold four-diamond strike despite a small die crack at 8:00 on the reverse.
