Lot #366 - 1911-D Strong D NGC MS-62
Gold $2.50-Indian Head Quarter Eagle
Far and away the scarcest Indian quarter-eagle, the 1911-D gets additional respect when a grading service provides the "strong D" moniker. The mintmark seen here cannot be mistaken at all, being readily visible without the aid of a loupe. Terrific for MS-62, this well struck coin practically glitters with faintly yellowed golden hue. A topnotch example at just about the most approachable quality grade for the date.

An adorable coin, the obverse seems to survive about a half grade nicer than the reverse, switching around the usual situation to the coin's advantage. While nicely struck and showing excellent facial details, an errant bagmark nicks Liberty's forehead.

I have to admit, this one won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but you will have to admit that it’s pretty darn cool! The center has a precious orangey marquise coral cabochon. There is a freeform, bezel set fossilized ammonite stone and the piece is completed with a elongated cabochon identified as rutilated quartz. None of the stones have indications of polymers or dyes, Stone Group Laboratories report #240827R-SJ. This piece has a pin on the back and also opens so it can be added to chain. Dimensions 4" x 1.5", 26.2 dwt.
