More available than the "large date" logotype but still hardly common given the mintage of under 60-thousand pieces. The pale, lackluster surface displays a thin coating of haze that helps subdue any potential remaining luster. Strike quality seems to be about as nice as is ever seen for 1842-D.

First is 1893 with a flurry of tiny bag abrasions on the obverse, fewer on the reverse and very good luster over a tremendous strike. 1897 displays fewer abrasions overall than its companion but also shows a moderate abrasion right on the cheek. A gorgeous filigree bracelet with eight round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately 2.25 cttw, SI1-2 clarity, I-J color. There are intricate floral links and four engraved links that were added. Length 8”, 11.2 dwt.
