Early United States mint sets are among the most difficult items to find in their original condition and packaging. There are five such issues here that includes a 1949, a 1951, a 1952, a 1954, and a 1957. Each of these are still in their original cardboard sleeves and envelopes as well. Wispy and dusty tones cling to all of the surfaces of each issue within each set lending even further evidence to these particular set’s originality. Lot #691 - 1901 CACG MS-61

The 1901 suffers a double whammy of extensive circulation and mediocre production such that even mint-state pieces rarely show up "nice". All in all, at MS-61, this is a decent example that manages some noticeable windmill effect. Plentiful bagmarks scatter about, but none is individually overly intrusive on the eye. To its credit, nicer toning has evolved, starting with a nice mixture sea-blue, magenta-orange and rose at the rims and passing into predominant coral-rose nearer the centers.
