A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Breen-6138, small head. 3 graded MS-63 PL, 7 higher at NGC. Evidently, the small head subvariety was struck off of one die-marriage although Breen cataloged two. The 1834 is readily available as a type representative in most grades, but with the highly coveted prooflike designation, the population falls very rapidly. A quick glance is sufficient to gather in the gorgeous cameo contrast seen for this choice coin, although the reverse fields are set aglow with some additional royal gold accents.
