  • Lot #549 - 1909-S CACG MS-64
  • Gold $20-Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
  • Aliyah Darnell Collection. Formerly considered rare, 1909-S can now be readily found even in MS-64 due to a Central American hoard dispersed a few decades ago. A very well struck example, the present coin offers pleasing, slightly mellowed golden hue that suffers only delicate abrasions in limited quantity.

  • Lot #414 - 1878 PCGS MS-64+ CAC
  • Hammer: $5,500
  • Gold $3-Indian Princess Head
  • THE common entry for the three dollar gold piece, 1878 most often serves type purposes near the gem grade level. That said, this is an exceptional example for MS-64+, utterly filled with tortoise-shell luster patterns and dominated by beautiful, fresh medium golden color. A small copper spot escapes between the first two digits of the date.
