Mintage figures are difficult to understand, even given the initial production of 3700 pieces, since it has long been rumored that hundreds were lost after having been disposed of in Manila Bay. For the enthusiast used to the way bronze reacts with environmental effects, this is one outstanding beauty is it unquestionably glows with olive-gold and brown aspects. Each represents variation in design from the other but curiously, NGC neither attributed nor graded either one. In the [cataloger's opinion], the brighter coin grades [AU] and gleams with significant luster despite a small number of lengthier hairline abrasions on the reverse. Accompanying is an example nearer XF despite hints of luster, and it also carries a few light hairline scratches conspicuous only under a loupe. Two coin lot.
