Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
Denver began minting operations in 1906 with double-eagles a part of their inaugural emissions. Perhaps in anticipation of starting out on the right foot, these are typically well produced by the mint, and like this choice example, most display splendid silken luster that shimmers with dazzling vibrancy. Precise details endow both sides and the reverse seems particularly well preserved, falling closer to MS-64 than the obverse.
