  • Ga Ha Ha Consignment. HK-449, R.4 in silver. 23 graded MS-64, 10 higher at PCGS. Struck to commemorate opening of the Manila Mint in 1920, which was the first and only U.S. Branch mint located outside of the United States proper. Manila struck coinage from then until 1945 when it was destroyed during the closing days of World War II, after Japan had seized the mint for production since 1941. Blistering luster generates adequate eye-appeal, along with pleasing vintage patina for this hefty specimen.

  • An adorable coin, the obverse seems to survive about a half grade nicer than the reverse, switching around the usual situation to the coin's advantage. While nicely struck and showing excellent facial details, an errant bagmark nicks Liberty's forehead.
