Faint rub suggests a borderline AU-58/MS-60 grade but without diminishing incredible detailing in the slightest. The wire edge rim typically sees less effects from contact than so-called "knife edge" examples but perhaps improper storage led to undue abrading of the edge of this all-time favorite.

The curious curls that lie under the “O” mint mark are likely a consequence of New Orleans using pairs of recycled Carson City dies that were no longer needed after production ceased there in 1893. One rather punctual bag mark at eyebrow level can be seen.

I have to admit, this one won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but you will have to admit that it’s pretty darn cool! The center has a precious orangey marquise coral cabochon. There is a freeform, bezel set fossilized ammonite stone and the piece is completed with a elongated cabochon identified as rutilated quartz. None of the stones have indications of polymers or dyes, Stone Group Laboratories report #240827R-SJ. This piece has a pin on the back and also opens so it can be added to chain. Dimensions 4" x 1.5", 26.2 dwt.
