  • Lot #357 - 1908 MS-62, 1909 MS-62, and 1912 MS-61, all PCGS
  • Hammer: $1,750
  • Gold $2.50-Indian Head Quarter Eagle
  • Plainly in the wheelhouse of the common working-man collector is this trio of approachable mint-state quarter-eagles. Included are: 1908 (subdued yellow-gold with a slightly deficient strike), 1909 (extremely deep orange hue with odd gunmetal accents), and 1912 (friction on the highpoints against a bit of two-toned patina). Three coin lot.

  • Lot #504 - 1865 Blundered Date, NGC AU-58
  • Hammer: $5,250
  • Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
  • Bowers lists this misplaced date but it is seldom referenced elsewhere, which is too bad given how prominent the digits are within the denticles. They are especially visible on such a nice, high-grade example of this Civil War survivor. Neither side would truly pass as UNC under close inspection, but the amount of wear is paper-thin and the coin overall exhibits attractive golden color with pinkish lowlights.
