Almost unbelievably original 2-reales comprise this Mexico mint pairing. First is 1748, KM#86.1, superbly struck for the type and showing trivial contact marks really only on the obverse. Accompanying is KM#87, slightly iridescent clay-brown with indigo overtones and only lightly abraded. Two coin lot.

Dimes-Capped Bust
JR-1, 1827/7 and often incorrectly referenced as "1827/5". These appear to be early dies, lacking any evidence of clashmarks, nor had any die breaks formed yet on the reverse when this dime was struck. Dynamic, jewel-like luster blows up the obverse eye-appeal but this is quickly offset by isolated surface damage "OF A" on the reverse.
