Lot #627 - Ten different Morgan dollars

101st Airborne Collection. Lowball collecting has become a thing in recent years as the cost of high-grade better-date silver dollars goes through the roof. Most of these are better dates, listed with estimated [cataloger grades] as follows: 1878-CC (Good, superbly original, 1878-S (VG/ancient cleaning has recovered gunmetal hue), 1888-O VAM-4 "hot lips" (Good, interesting Kraft envelope toning pattern), 1890-CC (Fine/old PVC conserved), 1893-CC (VG/dipped surface has recovered some color), 1894-O (Good/strangely colored), 1899-O (Good, outstanding and unusually strong album color), 1900-O (Fine, darker ashy grey), 1903-S (VF/cleaned with sharpness somewhat close to XF), and 1923-D (VF, modest album tone). Ten coin lot.

Pale pewter-grey layers nice and even over the whole surface, accented on high relief areas by a smidge of butterscotch. Conforming with the assigned grade, neither side clings to any meaningful luster although persistent searching will find isolated areas of frosty flowline texture inside some peripheral letters. Virtually all of the eagle's feathers are individually sculpted while Liberty's hair still shows significant bold details. One of this key's best characteristics, especially for the amount of wear, is the lack of major abrasions.

A very well-made cocktail ring centering on a 13.01x10.42x6.17mm oval double cabochon Omphacite Jade, Stone Group Laboratories report #240827J-SJ with no indications of polymers or dyes surrounded with a cascading ballerina halo of baguette diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 cttw, SI clarity, G-H color. Ring size 4.5, 7.8 dwt.
