  • Hammer: $3,800
  • Quarter Dollars-Capped Bust
  • Bachelor Simon Collection. Browning-1. The Browning plate coin in this exact same die-state might be available for a quarter-million dollars, but for most other collectors, a choice off-white example like this with formidable luster should do just fine. The underdigit shows nicely under a loupe, as does the satiny greyish surface showing no problems. There truly are no post-production defects to mention but interestingly, faint adjustment marks show across the lower portrait. A boldly appealing example of the highly sought overdate.

  • Hammer: $700
  • World Coins-Italy
  • Mastodon Collection. KM#MB54, Venice mint, 0.1 oz. While generally available in circulated grades, the gold Scudo becomes elusive closer and closer to mint-state. This example shows some edge clips, perhaps as-struck, and surprisingly bold definition given the very thin flan and low relief design.
