The Trade silver dollar is among the shortest-lived series of coins to ever be issued by the United States Mint and that creates a supply shortage that is easily noticed by any collector of the type. There are nine examples of this short-lived series in this group lot that includes the following: an 1876 (AU details, cleaned), 4x 1877 (XF), 3x 1877-S (XF details, cleaned), and an 1878-S (F). Lot #700 - 1921 Peace, High Relief NGC MS-66+

13 graded MS-66+, 8 higher at NGC. The mintage of a million pieces does little to describe why the 1921 is so common near basal mint-state grades yet profoundly scarce at the superb gem grade level, a grade for which this tremendously vigorous example clamors. The strike falls decidedly into the "better-than-average" category but as always for the high-relief 1921s, it is hopelessly incomplete at the centers. Adorable almond-yellow patina absolutely blossoms across both sides and takes full advantage of marvelous, satin-matte surfaces that are hardly ever disturbed by contact. Any abrasions found with a loupe prove to be minuscule and utterly innocuous to the eye-appeal.
