  • Lot #875 - 1810/09 PCGS XF details/cleaned
  • Large Cents-Classic Head
  • Sheldon-281, no clash marks and thus suggestive of an earlier strike. This Sheldon variety always seems to come a little softly struck yet the headband shows plainly and most definition within the strands of hair are nicely rendered. PCGS states "cleaned" but a more thorough inspection suggests that corrosion has been relieved from the surface, the whole coin later recolored nicely and nearly to the state of an original piece.

  • Lot #835 - 1884 NGC PR-67+ CAMEO
  • Hammer: $1,650
  • Nickel Three-Cent Pieces-Nickel Three-Cent Pieces
  • 5 graded PR-67+ CAM, 6 higher at NGC. Unlike many overdipped examples, the surface exhibits traces of bone-grey patina that only emphasizes tremendous cameo effect. The grade might reach for "finest known" candidacy if not for a slender linear abrasion beneath the chin -- the only evidence of contact that can readily be found with a loupe.
