Mintage: 16,013. Splendidly original . Mere mention of "1859 eagle" rarely inspires visions of scarcity, but a very low emission leads to some well bounded populations at either service today. A fully brown color designation might seem more appropriate to many viewers as only about 15% or so of the vintage mint red remains, but one cannot know whether the coin mellowed while stored within the slab. At any rate from a technical preservation standpoint, this one rises above many, if not most Hawaii cents given freedom from the corrosion that frequently visits these rare and desirable pieces. Well struck throughout and a coin that would be a welcome addition to any astute collection.
