Quarter Dollars-Standing Liberty
101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Lot #691 - 1901 CACG MS-61

The 1901 suffers a double whammy of extensive circulation and mediocre production such that even mint-state pieces rarely show up "nice". All in all, at MS-61, this is a decent example that manages some noticeable windmill effect. Plentiful bagmarks scatter about, but none is individually overly intrusive on the eye. To its credit, nicer toning has evolved, starting with a nice mixture sea-blue, magenta-orange and rose at the rims and passing into predominant coral-rose nearer the centers.
