Early United States mint sets are among the most difficult items to find in their original condition and packaging. There are five such issues here that includes a 1949, a 1951, a 1952, a 1954, and a 1957. Each of these are still in their original cardboard sleeves and envelopes as well. Wispy and dusty tones cling to all of the surfaces of each issue within each set lending even further evidence to these particular set’s originality. Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Scott Laiter Collection. Mintage: 1632. 19 graded AU-55, 76 higher at NGC. Purposefully struck and showing bold luster, either side appears to retain a full complement of detailing despite five points of wear. Mere finger friction has taken on deeper shades of carrot-gold, shying away from the pleasing luster seen in the peripheries; Underappreciate by collectors given the unusually low mintage.

I have to admit, this one won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but you will have to admit that it’s pretty darn cool! The center has a precious orangey marquise coral cabochon. There is a freeform, bezel set fossilized ammonite stone and the piece is completed with a elongated cabochon identified as rutilated quartz. None of the stones have indications of polymers or dyes, Stone Group Laboratories report #240827R-SJ. This piece has a pin on the back and also opens so it can be added to chain. Dimensions 4" x 1.5", 26.2 dwt.
