A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Anyone who has ever delved into the “vintage” silver bullion market knows that Engelhard is the king of kings within that realm. Odd sized pieces have taken on a marketplace of its own over the past decade or so and this piece is one of the scarcest offerings! This is a second series unique 4oz. ingot with a top hallmark in an elongated octagon. There are fewer than 100 of these pieces believed to be in existence and this is a particularly nice example for the type. Serial #3150 (ck).
