Either side shows average definition and collectively surprisingly few bagmarks for the choice level, although one small copper spot lands below the date. 38 graded MS-66, 6 higher at NGC. Both sides have been handsomely well taken care of for this very gem cent, struck on the doorstep of the Civil War. Impeccable color takes on flashing yellowish accents under some lighting angles and a good loupe reveals a stone-cold four-diamond strike despite a small die crack at 8:00 on the reverse.
